The Back to Health Centre welcomes Aleesha Murdoch to the team.
After 8 years of full-time practice in Smithers and the Kootenays, Aleesha is happy to be back in her home town. She enjoys a wide variety of recreation which makes it easy to maintain an active lifestyle. Her favourite activities include running, triathlon, basketball, paddle boarding, yoga, hiking, and mountain biking. She looks forward to integrating into the Kamloops community and completing a bachelor of health sciences over the coming year.
After completing her training from at Okanagan College of Massage Therapy Aleesha passed the board exam with distinction in 2009. Her practice began in Creston at a multi-disciplinary clinic for the following 5 years. Here she had the opportunity to collaborate with a team of allied health professionals to assist patients recover from pain and injury, and return them to active lifestyles. She enjoyed having access to the resourceful environment where it was not unusual to be treating patients recovering from motor vehicle incidents, work accidents and repetitive strains. This complimented her straight forward treatment style which includes modalities such as Kinesiotaping, heat/ice, joint mobilizations, stretching, deep tissue massage, active release, and patient education.
After a move to Northern BC, Aleesha was honoured to work closely with law enforcement and first responders. She found great value in providing detachment members with accessible and effective therapy to combat the stressors of their work environment. She also discovered special satisfaction working with prenatal patients and sought further training to better treat TMJ (jaw) dysfunctions.
Aleesha believes in her work. She finds genuine satisfaction in what she does because it mirrors her desire to stay active and fulfils her passion to care for others. She has found massage therapy to be as effective in rehabilitation as it is for maintaining self care. Recovering from our busy lives allows us to stay in the workforce and maintain healthy relationships with the people who mean the most to us. This adds incredible value to our quality of life and this is why Aleesha finds massage therapy so important.
